Slammers Down Titans, Secure Minimum Of Semi-Final Spot

The Woodstock Slammers (2-0) downed the Princeville Titans (0-2) 5-3 Wednesday afternoon in Kanata, Ontario in Game #3 of the Fred Page Cup, Eastern Canadian Championships. With the win, the Slammers have secured a minimum of a spot in Saturday's Semi-Final game.

Robert Visca led the Slammers with 3 goals while Nick Huard added 3 assists. Andrew Langan collected 1 goal and 1 assist.

Alexis Milette, assisted by Pierre-Alexandre Ouellet and Pier-Antoine Dion opened the scoring at 7:47 to give the Titans a 1-0 lead after the first period. Langan, assisted by Connor Tresham and Bradley Greene scored at 3:18 to tie the game at 1-1. Visca, assisted by Nick Huard scored at 4:48 to give the Slammers a 2-1 lead. Felix Bergeron (powerplay), assisted Dion and Marc-Anthony Therrien scored at 6:28 to even the score at 2-2. Visca (powerplay, second goal of game), assisted by Huard and Tim Campbell scored at 7:42 to regain the lead for Woodstock at 3-2 after the second period. Marc-Antoine Lessard, assisted by Francis Therrien scored at 12:15 to knot the score at 3-3. Zach Shannon (game winner) scored at 17:57 to regain the lead for the Slammers at 4-3. Visca (empty net, third goal of game), assisted by Huard and Langan rounded out the scoring at 19:20.

Woodstock went 1 for 5 on the powerplay while Princeville went 1 for 6.

Matt Murphy stopped 26 of 29 shots for the win while Charles-Etienne Martin stopped 23 of 27 shots in the loss.

Woodstock (2-0) will now face Nepean (1-0) in Game #5 Friday afternoon at 5:00pm (ADT). Nepean will face Kanata tonight at 9:00pm (ADT) in Game #4.
