Truro score four goals in the 2nd period en route to victory in Game 2
The Truro Bearcats bounced back from being shutout in Game 1 of the Metalfab MHL Cup Final to beat the Blizzard 4-3 on Tuesday night and even the series at a game apiece.
Neka Jean opened the scoring for the road team at 16:33 of the 1st period, taking a pass from behind the net from Alex Thibault and beating Truro goaltender Louca Connolly in a period where Truro outshot Edmundston 12-5.
The Bearcats finally managed to solve Edmundston goaltender Olivier St-Onge at 3:42 of the 2nd period as Éli Baillargeon scored his third goal of the playoffs. The 1:47 later, Ben Lindsay found the back of the net to give Truro its first lead of the series. The Blizzard took advantage of two defensive miscues to retake the lead in a 1:45 span as Noah Larochelle scored at 12:42 and Charles-Éric Tremblay netted a goal at 13:27.
The wild 2nd period continued as Truro broke through on the powerplay. After going 0-for-7 in Game 1 with the man advantage, and being 0-for-2 at that point in the game, Antoine Fontaine evened things 3-3 with a goal at 15:48. Then off a faceoff win by Jake Todd, Drew Keiver scored at 18:49 to put the Bearcats on top 4-3.
Both teams had scoring chances in the 3rd period, and the Bearcats survived a late flurry from Edmundston for the victory. Connolly has 22 saves in the win, while St-Onge made 29 saves in the loss.
The series now shifts back to Centre Jean Daigle in Edmundston for Games 3 and 4 on Friday and Saturday night.
