EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – After Tristan Therrien, it’s Austin Paul’s turn to confirm that he will join the ranks of the University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets team this fall.
According to Paul, the agreement with his new team was concluded at the end of the Edmundston Blizzard campaign. “I was talking to their coach for the majority of the season and Wisconsin-Superior was always in my top picks,” said the 21-year-old forward from Saint-Lazare, Que., who enrolled in the Exercise Science program.
Paul completed the 2021-2022 season with 32 points (17g, 15a) in 32 games with the Blizzard. He finished third on the team in points and goals.
“Yellowjackets’ expectations of me are to incorporate my style into their system of play. My goal is to continue to produce for the team but also to always make my presence felt and be good at the details,” he said.
Asked why he had decided to pursue his career in the country of Uncle Sam: “Since I was a little younger, playing in the United States has always been my ultimate goal after junior,” he explained.
Austin Paul also enjoyed his stay with the Blizzard. “Playing in Edmundston was a great experience, different from my others. I made the most of it with my teammates.
Paul will therefore be part, this fall, of a trio of former Blizzards (Therrien and Myles Hektor) with the University of Wisconsin-Superior. And, for those interested, Austin Paul will start the season with short hair…!

EDMUNDSTON, Nouveau-Brunswick – Après Tristan Therrien, c’est au tour d’Austin Paul de confirmer qu’il joindra les rangs de l’équipe des Yellowjackets de la University of Wisconsin-Superior cet automne.
Selon Paul, l’entente avec sa nouvelle formation a été conclue dès la conclusion de la campagne du Blizzard d’Edmundston. « Je parlais à leur entraineur pendant la majorité de la saison et Wisconsin-Superior figurait toujours dans mes premiers choix », a expliqué l’attaquant de 21 ans de Saint-Lazare, au Québec, qui s’est inscrit dans le programme d’études de la science de l’exercice (Exercise Science).
Paul a complété la saison 2021-2022 avec une récolte de 32 points (17b, 15p) en 32 parties avec le Blizzard. Il a terminé au troisième rang de l’équipe pour les points et les buts.
« Les attentes des Yellowjackets envers moi sont d’intégrer mon style à leur système de jeu. Mon objectif est de continuer de produire pour l’équipe mais aussi de toujours faire sentir ma présence et d’être bon dans les détails », a-t-il confié.
Questionné à savoir pourquoi il avait décidé de poursuivre sa carrière au pays de l’oncle Sam : « Depuis que je suis un peu plus jeune, jouer aux États-Unis a toujours été mon but ultime après le junior », a-t-il expliqué.
Austin Paul a également apprécié son passage chez le Blizzard. « Jouer à Edmundston a été une belle expérience, différente de mes autres. J’en ai profité au maximum avec mes coéquipiers ».
Paul fera donc partie, dès cet automne, d’un trio d’anciens Blizzards (Therrien et Myles Hektor) avec la University of Wisconsin-Superior. Et, pour les intéressés, Austin Paul entamera la saison les cheveux courts…!
