Broaders commits to Royal Military College

The Yarmouth Mariners have announced that forward Brent Broaders has committed to the Royal Military College for the 2021-22 season.

The 21-year-old from Tilting, Newfoundland was selected in the 1st Round, 11th overall, in the 2016 MHL Entry Draft by the Mariners. Broaders was named to the MHL’s Rookie All-Star Team in 2017-18 after compiling fifteen goals and sixteen assists in 49 games. He had four goals and three assists in eighteen games during the playoffs as Yarmouth ultimately fell in the MHL Cup Final to Edmundston.

In 2018-19, Broaders finished fifth in team scoring with 23 goals and 23 assists in 42 games. His sixteen points during the Canadian Tire Cup Playoffs was second only to teammates Andrew Martell and Matt Barron as the Mariners defeated Campbellton to win the Canadian Tire Cup. He was traded to the Ottawa Jr. Senators of the CCHL in July 2019 where he had eight goals and eight assists in 37 games before being dealt to Smiths Falls. Broaders had ten goals and twelve assists in 25 games with the Bears.

Broaders returned to Yarmouth for the 2020-21 season and finished sixth in league scoring with eighteen goals and 23 assists in 36 games to help Yarmouth finish atop the Eastlink South Division in the regular season. He had three goals and two assists in five games during the Canadian Tire Cup Playoff Round Robin.

The MHL congratulates Broaders on his post-secondary commitment.
