Western Capitals’ Brown commits to University of Ottawa

The Summerside Western Capitals have announced that forward Aaron Brown has committed to the University of Ottawa for next season.

The 20-year-old from Timberlea, N.S. was selected 8th overall in the 2018 MHL Entry Draft by the Edmundston Blizzard. In his rookie season of 2018-19, Brown had twelve goals and fourteen assists in 45 games for the Blizzard. He had eight goals and fourteen assists to start the 2019-20 season before being dealt at the trade deadline to Fredericton. Finishing the season with the Red Wings, Brown had five goals and three assists in eleven games.

Brown was traded to Valley ahead of the 2020-21 season. He had eighteen goals and eighteen assists in 29 games with the Wildcats and added two goals and an assist in four games during the Canadian Tire Cup Playoffs. He was named one of the league’s Players of the Week twice during the regular season.

Brown would once again be traded in-season, this time in 2021-22. He had three goals and six assists in nine games with the Wildcats before being acquired by the Summerside Western Capitals in early November. His offensive numbers exploded from there, with 23 goals and 23 assists in 24 games with Summerside. Brown was named the MHL’s Top Forward in February and was a Player of the Week twice. The Western Capitals went on to capture the Canadian Tire Cup and Brown led playoff scoring with seven goals and seventeen assists in fourteen games. At the Centennial Cup in Estevan, Saskatchewan, Brown finished second in team scoring with three goals and two assists in five games.

The MHL congratulates Brown on his post-secondary commitment.
