EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick (May 26, 2021) – The Edmundston Blizzard’s most stable offensive forward in the past two years, Isaac Chapman, will continue his hockey career with the Norwich University Cadets, a Division III team of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
The Cadets are a very powerful team and their record in the past two seasons speak by itself. The Cadets were 8-1-0 in 2020-21 and 24-2-2 in 2019-2020. The American team is based in Northfield, a small town of 6,000 inhabitants in the state of Vermont located about a 2.5 hour drive south of Montreal.
In two seasons with the Blizzard, Chapman, who will turn 21 on June 16, tallied 78 points (45g, 33a) in 69 games. The Lower Sackville, NS forward played his first Maritime Junior A Hockey League campaign with the Pictou County Weeks Crushers in 2018-19 with whom he had 27 points (13g, 14a) in 50 games.
His head coach in Edmundston, Emery Olauson, who was hired 12 days before Chapman’s acquisition, had nothing but good words about number 77.
“On the ice, Isaac was an offensive force that few teams in our league had any success containing. He was a constant threat to score because of his powerful skating and strength and willingness to get to the net. Off the ice Isaac was very easy for teammates and coaches to get along with, is very driven to continue to get stronger and a leader in the weight room. The Blizzard will miss Chappy’s consistency and easy-going nature, Norwich is very fortunate to attract Isaac to their program as I know he will have success there “, explained coach Olauson.
“Norwich is a powerhouse NCAA div. 3 program and it is very exciting news for our program to advance Chappy to this level and Isaac is sure to do the Blizzard proud as a student athlete at Norwich “, said Olauson.
The arrival of Chapman in Edmundston was certainly one of the best transactions of general manager Steve MacPherson and of the young history of the Blizzard organization. During the MHL draft held in Edmundston on June 15, 2019, Edmundston sent forwards Samuel LeBlanc and Maxime Grandmaison to the Pictou County Weeks Crushers and a first choice in the 2019 draft (Conor Shortall) in return for Chapman, Chad Wilson and first round picks in the 2019 (Mitchell McLeod) and 2020 (Jacob Long) draft.

EDMUNDSTON, Nouveau-Brunswick (26 mai, 2021) – L’attaquant le plus stable offensivement du Blizzard d’Edmundston lors des deux dernières années, Isaac Chapman, poursuivra sa carrière de hockeyeur avec les Cadets de la Norwich University, une formation de la division III de la National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
Les Cadets sont une équipe très puissante comme le démontre sa fiche en 2020-2021 (8-1-0) et en 2019-2020 (24-2-2). La formation américaine évolue à Northfield, une petite ville de 6 000 habitants dans l’État de Vermont située à environ deux heures et 30 minutes de route au sud de Montréal.
En deux saisons avec le Blizzard, Chapman, qui aura 21 ans le 16 juin, a amassé 78 points (45b, 33p) en 69 rencontres. L’attaquant de Lower Sackville, en NouvelleÉcosse, avait disputé sa première campagne dans la Ligue de hockey junior A des Maritimes en 2018-2019 avec les Weeks Crushers de Pictou County avec qui il a récolté 27 points (13b, 14p) en 50 parties.
Son entraineur-chef à Edmundston, Emery Olauson, arrivé en poste 12 jours avant l’acquisition de Chapman n’avait que de bons mots à l’endroit du numéro 77. « Sur la patinoire, Isaac était une force offensive que peu d’équipes de notre ligue ont réussi à contenir. Il était une menace constante pour marquer en raison de son puissant coup de patin, de sa force et de sa volonté de foncer vers le filet. En dehors de la patinoire, Isaac s’entendait très bien avec ses coéquipiers et entraîneurs, il était très motivé à s’améliorer et il était un leader dans la salle de musculation. Le Blizzard manquera la constance de Chappy et sa joie de vivre, Norwich est très chanceux d’attirer Isaac dans son programme car je sais qu’il connaitra du succès là-bas. Norwich est un programme puissant de la division 3 de la NCAA et il s’agit d’une nouvelle très excitante pour notre programme de faire progresser Chappy à ce niveau et Isaac est sûr de rendre le Blizzard fier en tant qu’étudiant-athlète à Norwich », a déclaré Olauson.
L’arrivée de Chapman à Edmundston a certainement été l’un des plus beaux coups du directeur général Steve MacPherson et de la jeune histoire de l’organisation du Blizzard. Lors du repêchage de la LHM tenu à Edmundston le 15 juin 2019, Edmundston a envoyé les attaquants Samuel LeBlanc et Maxime Grandmaison aux Weeks Crushers de Pictou County et un premier choix au repêchage de 2019 (Conor Shortall) en retour de Chapman, de Chad Wilson et des premiers choix aux repêchage de 2019 (Mitchell McLeod) et de 2020 (Jacob Long).
