Cornwall, Ont., to host Canada East WJAC Selection Camp Aug. 7-9
The 3-day event to be held at Benson Centre

OTTAWA, Ont. – Hockey Canada, in conjunction the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL), announced Friday that Benson Centre in Cornwall, Ont., will be the site of the Team Canada East Selection Camp, August 7-9, in advance of the 2019 World Junior A Challenge, which takes place Dec. 7-15 in Dawson Creek, B.C.

It is expected that 44 players will be invited to participate in the Canada East camp, with hopefuls being comprised from the five eastern-based leagues within the CJHL, in the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL), Ligue de hockey junior AAA du Quebec (LHJAAAQ), Maritime Hockey League (MHL), Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL), and Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL).

The camp participants will split up into two teams and will compete in practice sessions as well as four inter-squad games to assist in the Team Canada East evaluation and selection process.

“We reached out to contacts across Eastern Canada to compile our list of potential candidates for this camp and the process will continue until the best players are identified and the final Team Canada East roster is named prior to the event,” stated Canada East director of operations.

The names of those invited to attend the camp as well as the members of the coaching staff will be announced at a later time.

9-10 a.m.: Team 1 practice
10-11 a.m.: Team 2 practice
3-5 p.m.: Inter-squad game No. 1

August 8

9-11 a.m.: Inter-squad game No. 2
3-5 p.m.: Inter-squad game No. 3

August 9
