Denis Toner commits to Université de Moncton

The Grand Falls Rapids are pleased to announce that defenceman Denis Toner has committed to the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus for the 2020-21 season.

The 20-year-old from St. Andre, NB. was a 1st round draft selection of the Woodstock Slammers/Rapids organization in the 2015 MHL Entry Draft.

Denis joined the Slammers as an affiliate for the 2016 Fred Page Cup with three assists in eight regular season games in addition to one goal and three assists in five playoff games. He joined Woodstock on a full-time basis for the 2016-17 season, with one goal and 18 assists in 50 games that season. Toner followed that up with four goals and 18 assists in 40 games in 2017-18.

He made the jump to the QMJHL and the Halifax Mooseheads during the 2018-19 season, but returned to his hometown as captain for the start of 2019-20. Toner had one goal and eleven assists in 17 games before he was once again recalled to Halifax just prior to Christmas and finished the season with the Mooseheads.

The Grand Falls Rapids and Maritime Junior Hockey League congratulates Denis Toner on his MHL career and commitment to U de M.
