He joined Woodstock on a full-time basis for the 2016-17 season, with one goal and 18 assists in 50 games that season. Toner followed that up with four goals and 18 assists in 40 games in 2017-18.
He made the jump to the QMJHL and the Halifax Mooseheads during the 2018-19 season, but returned to his hometown as captain for the start of 2019-20. Toner had one goal and eleven assists in 17 games before he was once again recalled to Halifax just prior to Christmas and finished the season with the Mooseheads.
