The Summerside Western Capitals have announced that Dylan Riley has committed to York University for 2019-20.

The 21-year-old from Windsor, N.S. spent three seasons in the Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL). Riley was selected in the 6th round, 66th overall, in the 2015 MHL Entry Draft by the Pictou County Weeks Crushers.

Riley was named rookie of the year in 2016-17, and a member of the Rookie All-Star team, as he led all rookies in scoring with 25 goals and 44 assists for 69 points in 49 games. That placed him in a tie for sixth in total points in the MHL. In the playoffs, Riley posted three goals and two assists in seven games.

Riley continued to be among the team leaders in scoring for the Crushers in 2017-18, with 22 goals and 30 assists in 51 games.

This past season, Riley had 12 goals and 21 assists in 29 games in Pictou County as an assistant captain before being dealt in a blockbuster deal with teammate Jacob Hickey at the trade deadline to the Western Capitals. With Summerside, he posted eight goals and 20 assists in 22 games. In the playoffs, Riley had seven goals and two assists in ten games.
