Former West Kent Steamers goaltender Rhyah Stewart won the NCAA Division I National Championship with the Wisconsin Badgers on Sunday, 3-2 over Ohio State. It’s the second consecutive national title for Wisconsin and its ninth championship overall.
Stewart played eleven games for the Badgers this season with a 6-2-0 record, 1.90 goals against average, and a .923 save percentage.
She played ten games for the Steamers in the 2024-25 season, becoming the second female to play in the Maritime Junior Hockey League. She posted a record of 6-3-0-0 with a 3.17 goals against average, a .903 save percentage, and one shutout. Stewart was the MHL’s Rookie of the Month in September 2024 and was named to the Eastlink North Team of the Week once that month.
