Former Western Capital playing for Italy at the Olympics

Former Summerside Western Capitals defenseman Jason Seed is suiting up for the host Italian squad at the Olympic winter games in Milan.

The Ottawa-born Seed joined Summerside during the 2012-13 season after three-and-a half seasons in the QMJHL between Gatineau and Saint John. He had four goals and fifteen assists in 26 regular season games and then added three goals and eight assists in thirteen playoff games as the Western Capitals captured the league championship. Summerside hosted the RBC Cup, the national Junior a championship, that season and Seed contributed four assists in six games as the Western Capitals lost 3-1 to Brooks in the final.

After the tournament, Seed spent four years at Carleton University before heading overseas, playing in France and Poland. He’s spent the past four seasons in Italy, where he holds dual citizenship. Coming into the Olympics, Seed had played 31 games for Italy on the international stage with one goal and five assists.
