Tristan Gagnon, who served as captain of the Edmundston Blizzard in the past season, will wear the uniform of the Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder for the upcoming 2020-21 season.
A native of Sherbrooke, Québec, Gagnon played in all 52 games of the Blizzard and finished second in team’s scoring with 74 points (22 g, 52 a). He has displayed unparalleled consistency throughout the season by staying among the top 10-point getters each week. He finished the Maritime Hockey League’s campaign 8th in scoring.
His great sense of leadership, his ability to develop unity among players and his overall hockey talent make him a sought-after person for next levels.
“I am very pleased to join Concordia University,” said Tristan Gagnon. I will continue my studies in sports administration, and I will play for a team which, next year, will aim for great honors. So, I can’t wait! For me, wearing the colors of the Blizzard was an important passage which undoubtedly opened this door for me for a new challenge! Thanks again to all of my teammates, my billet family, the organization, the coaches and the fans! “
Concordia University of Edmonton is a campus that welcomes nearly 2,000 students each year. The Thunder team plays in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference. The Thunder finished sixth last season with a record of 11 wins, 14 losses, 1 overtime defeat and 2 ties.
“It started with a discussion with Blizzard head coach (Emery Olauson),” explained Joey Bouchard, a Franco-Albertan whose parents are from the province of Quebec. I also have contacts in eastern Quebec with whom I spoke, and the name of Tristan came out. We found that Tristan had a great year with the Blizzard. Other coaches in the league (Maritime Hockey League) have told us good things about him, that he is a character player who works very hard with a good work ethic, in short, a good leader. He is also a talented player with a good hockey IQ. He’s a guy who skates well. These qualities made our decision easy enough to convince him to join us. We know he’s going to help our team. We see Tristan within the top 6 forwards. “
The MHL congratulates Gagnon on his Junior A career and his commitment to the Concordia University of Edmonton.

Tristan Gagnon jouera en Alberta avec la Concordia University of Edmonton
Tristan Gagnon, qui a agi comme capitaine du Blizzard d’Edmundston au cours de la dernière saison, portera les couleurs du Thunder de la Concordia University of Edmonton lors de la saison 2020-2021.
Natif de Sherbrooke, au Québec, Gagnon a pris part aux 52 matchs du Blizzard et a terminé au deuxième rang des pointeurs de l’équipe ave 74 (22 b, 52 p). Il a affiché une constance sans pareil tout au long de la saison en figurant chaque semaine parmi les 10 meilleurs pointeurs du circuit. Il a terminé la campagne au 8e rang de la Ligue de hockey junior A des Maritimes.
Son grand sens de leadership, son talent de rassembleur et son talent global de hockeyeur font de lui une personne recherchée dans les rangs supérieurs.
” Je suis très heureux de me joindre à la Concordia University, a indiqué Tristan Gagnon. Je vais poursuivre mes études en administration du sport (sports management) et je vais jouer pour une équipe qui, l’année prochaine, visera les grands honneurs. Donc, j’ai bien hâte! Pour moi, porter les couleurs du Blizzard a été un passage important qui m’a sans doute ouvert cette porte pour un nouveau défi! Merci encore à tous mes coéquipiers, ma famille d’hébergement, l’organisation, les entraineurs et les partisans! “
La Concordia University of Edmonton est un campus qui accueille chaque année près de 2 000 étudiantes et étudiants. L’équipe du Thunder fait partie de la Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference. Le Thunder a terminé la dernière saison au sixième rang avec une fiche de 11 victoires, 14 défaites, 1 revers en prolongation et 2 nulles.
L’entraineur-chef de la Concordiay University, Joey Bouchard, a laissé savoir que l’acquisition de Tristan Gagnon s’est faite après une recherche minutieuse.
” Cela a commencé avec une discussion avec l’entraineur-chef du Blizzard (Emery Olauson). J’ai également des contacts dans l’est du Québec avec qui j’ai parlé et le nom de Tristan est ressorti. Nous avons constaté que Tristan avait connu une très bonne année avec le Blizzard. D’autres entraineurs du circuit (ligue de hockey des Maritimes) nous ont dit de bonnes choses à propos de lui, qu’il était un joueur de caractère qui travaille très fort avec une bonne éthique de travail, bref un bon leader. C’est aussi un joueur talentueux avec un sens élevé du jeu (hockey IQ). C’est un gars qui patine bien. Ces qualités ont rendu notre décision assez facile de le convaincre à venir chez nous. On sait qu’il va aider notre équipe. Nous voyons Tristan faisant partie de l’une des deux premières unités à l’attaque ” a expliqué Joey Bouchard, un Franco-Albertain issu de parents québécois.
La LHM félicite Gagnon pour sa carrière junior A et son engagement envers la Concordia University of Edmonton.
