At a press conference earlier today, the new group representing the Grand Falls, New Brunswick hockey club proudly unveiled their new team nickname and logos. The team, which will be known as the Rapids, is the former incarnation of the Woodstock Slammers. The franchise was formally transferred from Woodstock last month.
The logo is a complex yet unique one, displaying some of the greatest attributes of both the game and the Grand Falls/Grand Sault region. The nickname was the winning entry in a contest promoted towards local schools and the community at large.
The Rapids next courses of action will occur this weekend, when their contingent, which includes Team President and Grand Falls Mayor Marcel Deschenes and General Manager Danny Braun, travel to Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley for the MHL AGM and Draft weekend, set to take place June 7th-9th.
Below is a more detailed description of the Rapids logo.
