The Yarmouth Mariners have announced that defenseman Jake Jurgeneit has committed to Trinity Western University for the 2020-21 U SPORTS season. The 20-year-old from Simcoe, ON was acquired by the Mariners on January 2nd, 2020 from the Nepean Raiders of the CCHL. In 19 games in Yarmouth, Jurgeneit had three goals and four assists to help the team clinch their third straight division title.
Spartans Head Coach Barret Kropf says in a statement, “Jake Jurgeneit is a stay at home defenceman that will help us add some much-needed depth to our d-core for next season…he adds size, durability, as well as possessing great first pass skills, and has been a leader on each junior team throughout his career. We look forward to having Jake join our program in the fall!”
