MacArthur named Honourable Mention in CJHL 3 Stars for January

CALGARY, Alta. – The Canadian Junior Hockey League announced today that goaltender Brady Parker (Okotoks Oilers, AJHL) as well as forwards Alex Newhook (Victoria Grizzlies, BCHL) and Kyle Jackson (Ottawa Jr. Senators, CCHL) have been named its Gongshow Gear 3 Stars of the Month for January.

1ST STAR: BRADY PARKER, (G) OKOTOKS OILERS (AJHL) – The Okotoks rookie goaltender was a perfect 9-0 through January. … Through the time frame, the 18-year-old Calgary product registered a 1.60 goal-against average along with a .930 save percentage. … Parker allowed just a single goal in seven of those outings, giving up just 15 goals total, on the 213 attempts he faced. … The AJHL Player of the Month during the period, sports a 25-9-1 record to date for the Oilers and has gone 17-3-1 in his past 21 decisions. … Parker is also a finalist for AJHL Top Goaltender and Rookie of the Year honours.

2ND STAR: ALEX NEWHOOK, (F) VICTORIA GRIZZLIES (BCHL) – The highly-touted Newhook continued to produce at an impressive rate last month racking up 20 points in a dozen games for Victoria, helping them maintain their lead atop the Island Division standings. … The 18-year-old from St. John’s, N.L., scored six times and doled out 14 assists for the Grizzlies in January. … Newhook currently leads all BCHL skaters in offensive production with 92 points in just 52 games on 35 goals and 59 helpers. … The projected first-round selection in the 2019 NHL Draft in Vancouver was the highest-rated CJHL prospect in NHL Central Scouting’s mid-term rankings, being tabbed 16th overall among North American skaters. … He’s also committed to Boston College on NCAA scholarship.

3RD STAR: KYLE JACKSON, (F) OTTAWA JR. SENATORS (CCHL) – As one of the youngest players in the entire 133-team CJHL, the 16-year-old Jackson produced at nearly a two-point-per-game clip for the defending CCHL champion Jr. Senators. … The Ottawa native registered 15 points in just eight outings in January by notching six goals, including a game-winner, and chipping in with nine assists along the way. … Jackson produced five multi-point affairs during the month and now boasts 45 points in his first 44 games of Jr. A hockey with 18 tallies and 27 helpers. … His offensive numbers see him leading all CCHL rookies in scoring heading into action this weekend. … He was also tabbed the CCHL’s most recent Player of the Month for his contributions.
