Media Release
March 7, 2025
To our fans, volunteers, supporters, and all of our great partners, as well as our governing body, the MHL/LMH:
As of today, March 7, 2025, we are officially announcing that the Riverview Ford Red Wings will be relocating to Bathurst, New Brunswick, for the 2025-2026 season. We will rebrand and be known moving forward as the Chaleur Lightning, a tribute to the past program’s minor hockey programs in the Chaleur region.
We eagerly anticipate this fresh start, where we believe we will have a better chance of achieving success both on and off the ice. The past six seasons in Fredericton have presented many challenges, some of which were too difficult to overcome on a consistent basis. We extend our heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support by all, including, our title sponsor, Riverview Ford Lincoln, we sincerely thank you for your generous sponsorship and community support daily. As a team and community, during the past six years, we truly have created some amazing moments and memories that we hope will live on as a legacy to the time in Fredericton.
Our final game will be played on March 8 at 7 PM at the Grant Harvey Arena. Prior to the game, we will honor the lives of Danny Grant and Buster Harvey and bid a final farewell. On this evening, we will recognize all our alumni from 1965 to present by celebrating their involvement in Junior A Hockey in Fredericton, including our senior players from the 2024 25 season.
Thank you,
Roger Shannon
