Notes

    • As the Western Capitals only moved to the same division as the Crushers last season, Summerside and Pictou County have not met in the playoffs since the 2010-11 league final, which was a four-game sweep by Summerside.
    • To say special teams will be a deciding factor in this series might be an understatement. On the powerplay, Pictou County went 11 for 41 (26.8%) while Summerside were an incredible 15 for 37 (40.5%) in the head to head matchup. Each team also scored two shorthanded goals, meaning nearly half (47.6%) of the goals in their season series were on special teams.
    • On the topic of shorthanded goals, Pictou County scored 20 this season, while Summerside was right behind them with 17. Logan O’Neil had nine for the Crushers to set a new single season MHl record.
    • Summerside led the league with 4.94 goals per game with Pictou County third at 4.65. However, Summerside’s goals against per game was fourth-best this season at 3.13, while Pictou County allowed 4.38 per game.
    • Each team had three players in the top 20 in league scoring. Lucas Canning (1st), Logan O’Neil (6th), and Kiefer Avery (17th) led the way for the Crushers, with Dominik Godin (2nd), Robbie Rutledge (7th), and Jerome Gilbert (20th) for the Western Capitals.
    • Summerside is likely to lean on outstanding hometown rookie George Gallant in goal for the series. He had a 20-4-0-1 record with three shutouts, the second-best goals against average at 2.63 and the third-best save percentage at .925 (tied with Miramichi’s Jack Flanagan). On the other side is Thomas Fontaine, who since being acquired from Yarmouth has gone 6-4-0-0 in eleven games with a 3.46 goals against average and an .889 save percentage for Pictou County.
