Truro, N.S. (March 20, 2026) – The Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL) is pleased to announce Greg Leland of the Grand Falls Rapids as the 2025-26 Coach of the Year. Now in his fourth season behind the bench in Grand Falls, Leland guided the team to its first Eastlink North Division title and Metalfab MHL Cup Playoff berth since moving from Woodstock before the 2018-19 season.
The Rapids posted a record of 31-15-5-1 with a +19 goal differential. That’s a 27-point improvement in the standings from last season, where they finished in fifth place with a record of 16-27-2-7 and a -43 goal differential. Grand Falls had one of the top home records in the league, going 19-5-2-0 at the E. & P. Sénéchal Centre, but jumped from five wins on the road last season to twelve this season. The team also made improvements to its powerplay and penalty killing percentages in 2025-26, and finished the regular season as the hottest team in the league with a ten-game winning streak.
This is the second Coach of the Year award for Leland, who won in 2018-19 when he was behind the bench of the Campbellton Tigers.

La LHM choisit Greg Leland entraineur de l’année 2025-2026
Truro, N.-É. (20 mars 2026) – La Ligue de hockey junior des Maritimes (LHM) est heureuse d’annoncer que Greg Leland, des Rapides de Grand-Sault, est l’entraineur de l’année 2025-2026. À sa quatrième saison à la tête de l’équipe de Grand-Sault, Leland a mené ses joueurs à leur premier titre de la section Eastlink Nord et à leur première qualification pour les séries éliminatoires de la coupe LHM Metalfab depuis leur déménagement de Woodstock avant la saison 2018-2019.
Les Rapides ont affiché un bilan de 31-15-5-1 avec un différentiel de buts de +19. Cela représente une amélioration de 27 points au classement par rapport à la saison dernière, où ils avaient terminé en cinquième place avec un bilan de 16-27-2-7 et un différentiel de buts de -43. Grand-Sault a affiché l’un des meilleurs bilans à domicile de la ligue, soit 19-5-2-0 au centre E.-et-P.-Sénéchal, mais est passé de cinq victoires à l’extérieur la saison dernière à 12 cette saison. L’équipe a également amélioré ses pourcentages en avantage numérique et en infériorité numérique en 2025-2026, et a terminé la saison en tant qu’équipe la plus dominante de la ligue avec une série de dix victoires.
Il s’agit du deuxième titre d’entraineur de l’année pour Leland, qui l’avait déjà remporté en 2018-2019 alors qu’il était à la tête des Tigres de Campbellton.
