Truro, N.S. (March 24, 2022) – The Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL) is pleased to announce that Olivier Coulombe of the Edmundston Blizzard is the 2022-23 Player of the Year.
The 21-year-old from Montmagny, Quebec finished fourth in league scoring with 82 points. Despite starting his season in November, Coulombe tallied 52 goals and 30 assists in 2022-23, marking the first time a player has topped the 50-goal mark in the MHL since Summerside’s Thomas Stavert in 2014-15. Coulombe had points in 36 of 37 games played. He finished tied for third with Grand Falls’ Yannic Bastarache in powerplay points with 37. Coulombe had an incredible twelve game-winning goals, including a streak of four straight games in November with the winning goal and three-straight games in January.
He had a league-best 27-game point streak in 2022-23, collecting 59 points from November 4th to February 17th, and entered the Metalfab MHL Cup Playoffs on a nine-game goal scoring streak with sixteen goals in that time.
Coulombe was named the Top Forward in November and January, and was the Honourable Mention in March. He was named to the Eastlink North’s Team of the Week seven times.

La LHM choisit Olivier Coulombe comme joueur de l’année 2022-2023
Truro, N.-É. (24 mars 2023) – La Ligue de hockey junior des Maritimes (LHM) est heureuse d’annoncer qu’Olivier Coulombe, du Blizzard d’Edmundston, est le joueur de l’année 2022-2023.
Le joueur de 21 ans originaire de Montmagny, au Québec, a terminé au quatrième rang des pointeurs de la ligue avec 82 points. Même s’il a commencé sa saison en novembre, Coulombe a inscrit 52 buts et 30 passes en 2022-2023 et il a inscrit des points dans 36 des 37 matchs qu’il a disputés. C’est la première fois qu’un joueur franchit le cap des 50 buts dans la LHM depuis Thomas Stavert, de Summerside, en 2014-2015. Il a terminé à égalité au troisième rang avec Yannic Bastarache de Grand-Sault au chapitre des points en avantage numérique avec 37. Coulombe a inscrit un nombre incroyable de 12 buts gagnants, y compris une série de quatre matchs consécutifs en novembre avec le but vainqueur et trois matchs consécutifs en janvier.
Il a connu la meilleure série de points de la ligue avec 27 matchs en 2022-2023, récoltant 59 points du 4 novembre au 17 février. Coulombe a entamé les séries éliminatoires de la coupe LHM Metalfab avec une série de neuf parties avec au moins un but pour un total de 16 au cours de cette période.
Coulombe a été nommé meilleur attaquant en novembre et en janvier, et a reçu la mention honorable en mars. Coulombe a été nommé sept fois membre de l’équipe de la semaine Eastlink nord.
