JEAN-SIMON BÉLANGER WILL PURSUE HIS HOCKEY CAREER IN FRANCE
As he was able to make the Rapids’ fans rise up from their seats on numerous occasions last season thanks to his amazing performances on the ice, Jean-Simon Bélanger now awaits a new challenge. The young man from St-Felicien (Quebec) will shortly pursue his hockey career in France as he will join the ‘Français volants’, a Division 2 caliber team located in Paris. Bélanger, who signed a two-year contract with his new team, is happy with his decision even though it was a tough one as other options were available to him.
In 45 games played last season with the Rapids, Jean-Simon scored 36 goals and picked up 40 assists for a very productive offensive total of 76 points which ranked him second among the league’s leading scorers during the regular season.
Blessed with amazing speed and a powerful shot, we will always remember no.24 as a fan favorite especially for his accessibility towards the young kids and his desire to give lots of his time to the community.
Even though his departure from the Rapids creates a big loss in the hearts of Rapids’ fans, we are very happy for Jean-Simon as he will now get the opportunity to show his amazing skills on European soil. ‘Les Français volants’ are lucky to have a player of such great caliber in their ranks, but they should be even more thankful to be alongside such a great young man.

JEAN-SIMON BÉLANGER POURSUIVRA SA CARRIÈRE DE HOCKEY EN FRANCE
Après avoir réussi à soulever les foules grâce à ses performances magistrales sur la patinoire lors de sa première saison avec les Rapides, Jean-Simon Bélanger entreprendra sous peu un nouveau défi. En effet, le jeune homme natif de St-Félicien (Québec) poursuivra dorénavant sa carrière de hockey en France alors qu’il évoluera avec la formation des Français volants de Paris dans la Division 2. Il s’agit d’un contrat de deux ans pour Bélanger qui se dit heureux de sa décision même si celle-ci fut difficile puisque d’autres options se présentaient à lui.
En 45 matchs de disputés la saison dernière avec les Rapides, Jean-Simon a obtenu une fiche fort productive en attaque de 36 buts et 40 mentions d’aide pour un total de 76 points, le situant au deuxième rang parmi les meilleurs pointeurs du circuit en saison régulière.
Doué d’un coup de patin ultra rapide et d’un lancer foudroyant, on se souviendra toujours du no.24 comme étant l’un des grands favoris des amateurs, surtout en raison de son accessibilité auprès des plus jeunes et son désir de contribuer beaucoup de son temps auprès de la communauté.
Même si son départ laisse un grand vide dans le cœur des partisans des Rapides, nous sommes tout de même très heureux de cette belle opportunité qui se présente à Jean-Simon de faire valoir ses talents en sol européen. Les Français volants sont chanceux de pouvoir aligner un joueur de cette trempe, mais surtout très choyés de côtoyer un jeune homme aussi extraordinaire.
La direction des Rapides ainsi que ses nombreux partisans désirent remercier Jean-Simon pour ses services rendus auprès de l’équipe et on tient à lui souhaiter la meilleure des chances dans cette belle aventure!
