The Fredericton Red Wings have announced that goaltender Yacine Chemrouk has committed to Nipissing University.
The 20-year-old from Montreal, Quebec spent one season in the Maritime Junior Hockey League. He started the 2023-24 season with the Truro Bearcats. In sixteen games with Truro, Chemrouk had a record of 8-5-1-1 with a 3.61 goals against average and a .901 save percentage. He was named to the Eastlink South Team of the Week twice with the Bearcats.
He was traded to the Red Wings in late November. Chemrouk played eighteen games for Fredericton with a 4-11-0-2 record, 3.84 goals against average, .895 save percentage, and one shutout. He was also named to the Eastlink North Team of the Week once during the season. In the Metalfab MHL Cup Playoffs, Chemrouk had a record of 0-2-1 with a 4.59 goals against average and an .885 save percentage.
