A number of teams have had an extended break due to the Eastern Canada Cup All-Star Challenge in Trenton, Ontario as well as last weekend’s storm, which wiped out all but one game.
The action gets underway Thursday with three games. In the Eastlink North, the division-leading Summerside Western Capitals (16-3-0-0) host the Miramichi Timberwolves (9-8-2-0). Summerside, ranked 7th in the nation once again by the CJHL this week and riding a seven-game winning streak, have taken the first two meetings between these teams by a combined score of 15-5. The Timberwolves are just three points behind second-place Campbellton (10-4-1-2), and would love nothing more than to win in Summerside.
The Truro Bearcats (12-5-1-1) travel over Mount Thom for a game against the Pictou County Weeks Crushers (3-12-3-2). Truro dropped a 3-0 decision to South leaders Yarmouth (18-3-0-1) last Friday, while the Crushers haven’t played since Remembrance Day, when they lost 4-0 to the Mariners. This is the start of three games in four days for Truro. Finally, St. Stephen (7-10-2-0) hit the road to play South Shore (8-8-2-0). The Aces have dropped three in a row by a combined four goals, including a 4-3 overtime loss on November 9th to Grand Falls (5-10-1-0).
On Friday, South Shore head to Berwick for another matchup with Valley (4-12-3-0). The Wildcats have dropped back to back games after a 4-0 win over Truro on November 4th. The Yarmouth Mariners look to run their win streak to seven as they host the Aces. And Grand Falls (5-10-1-0) travel to Campbellton. The Tigers have won both matchups thus far, including one in overtime, scoring six goals in each game.
Saturday’s schedule features four games. The top two teams in the South collide in Yarmouth as the Ramblers make the trip down. The Mariners will be looking to avenge a 6-1 loss in Amherst on October 27th. This is also the MHL Game of the Week, and free to watch on HockeyTV. The Crushers and Wildcats meet in Berwick. Pictou County has won both matchups this season (both in New Glasgow); 2-1 in overtime on the first day of the season, and 5-4 on November 8th. Truro head to Edmundston to face the Blizzard at Centre Jean Daigle. Grand Falls are on the road against Miramichi, with the Timberwolves having topped the Rapids 5-3 and 5-4 this season.
There are two games on Sunday. Truro finishes up a mini New Brunswick Road trip in Grand Falls for their first visit to the E. & P. Sénéchal Centre. And Miramichi plays their third game in four days as they host Campbellton. There’s also a rare Monday game as the Amherst Ramblers head to New Glasgow to face the Pictou County Weeks Crushers.
All games can be viewed on HockeyTV.
