Second Week of MHL Action Begins Thursday

The second week of Maritime Hockey League action kicks off tonight in New Glasgow, as the Pictou County hosts Amherst. The Weeks Crushers look to build off a 2-1 overtime win over the valley Wildcats, while Amherst opened their season with an impressive 6-2 victory on home ice.

Friday’s action includes two more home openers. The Valley Wildcats look to pick up their first win of the season as they host a Yarmouth Mariners squad that won both of their games last week. In the other, the Rapids and Blizzard resume their budding rivalry in Edmundston. Grand Falls won their first-ever regular season game at the E. & P. Sénéchal Centre 2-1 over the Blizzard last Sunday.

The games keep rolling Saturday. The Ramblers and Lumberjacks face off in Amherst in a rematch of last year’s hard fought Eastlink South Division Semifinal. The Truro Bearcats open their home schedule against Valley, following a 3-2 road win in St. Stephen last week.

The action wraps up with a pair of Sunday matinees as Summerside travels to Miramichi and St. Stephen plays in Edmundston.
