Stephen Fox commits to Lakehead University

The Amherst Ramblers have announced that forward Stephen Fox has committed to Lakehead University for the 2021-22 season.

The 20-year-old from New Town, N.S. had a banner year in 2020-21, finishing second in league scoring with 28 goals and 31 assists in 34 games and capturing the MHL Player of the Year award. Fox led the league in shorthanded goals with five, which helped him to an MHL-best seven shorthanded points. He was tied for the most powerplay assists in the league with twelve, placing him second in total powerplay points with eighteen. Fox also tallied the most game-winning goals with five. He was one of three players to have a six-point game this season, including five goals. That single-game goal total was also an individual high in the MHL.

Fox was named the Gongshow Top Forward for March/April after racking up 25 points in eleven games for the Ramblers down the stretch. He was named an honourable mention for the award in December with four goals and six assists in five games. Fox was also named a Player of the Week five times.

Fox was selected 1st overall in the 2017 MHL Entry Draft by the South Shore Lumberjacks and played five playoff games with the club in 2017-18. He was acquired by the Ramblers prior to the 2018-19 season. In his first full season in the MHL, Fox was named to the Rookie All-Star Team after compiling 12 goals and 17 assists in 46 games. He added one goal and three assists in seven games during the Canadian Tire Cup Playoffs. Fox finished fourth in team scoring in 2019-20 with 18 goals and 32 assists in 50 games.

The MHL congratulates Fox on his post-secondary commitment.
