Summerside defeat Truro 3-0 to win Game 3
The Summerside Western Capitals picked up a 3-0 win on home ice in Game 3 of the Eastlink South Division Final to cut the Truro bearcats’ series lead to 2-1.
There was no scoring in the 1st period, with Truro unable to convert on three powerplay opportunities as penalty killing on both sides in the series continued to excel.
Elliott Mullen got Summerside on the board at 5:29 of the 2nd period and Justin Ouellette made it 2-0 at 16:17. In the 3rd period, Jordan Shaw scored at 1:00 to make it 3-0, which stood as the final score.
Summerside had their highest shot output of the series with 43 on Truro goaltender Sam Berthiaume, who made 40 saves in the loss. Kolton Bourret stopped all 24 shots he faced for his second shutout of the Metalfab MHL Cup Playoffs.
Game 4 is back in Truro on Wednesday night.
