The Summerside Western Capitals have announced that goaltender Félix-Anthony Éthier has committed to the Université de Moncton for 2022-23.
The 21-year-old from St-Eustache, Quebec joined the Truro Bearcats in 2021-22 after paying parts of three seasons in the QMJHL with Acadie-Bathurst and Blainville-Boisbriand. He had a 4-6-0-0 record in Truro with a 4.05 goals against average, one shutout, and an .884 save percentage.
In December, he was traded to the Summerside Western Capitals where he posted a 9-2-1-0 record with a 2.25 goals against average, one shutout, and a .922 save percentage. Éthier backstopped Summerside to a Canadian Tire Cup championship, beating the Bearcats in five games. His playoff numbers speak for themselves: 12-0-2, 1.91 GAA, two shutouts, and a .921 SV%.
Éthier was named an All-Star for the Eastlink North and was the co-winner of the Young/Knickle Trophy for the fewest goals allowed per game with teammate Jacob Leblanc. He was also named a Player of the Week three times.
At the Centennial Cup, Éthier had a 2-2-1 record with a 2.82 goals against average and a .903 save percentage as Summerside lost in the quarterfinals.
The MHL congratulates Éthier on his post-secondary commitment.
