The Road to the Centennial Cup: League finals set
TORONTO – With it being three weeks away until the start of the Centennial Cup, presented by Tim Hortons, at the Max Bell Centre in Calgary, each of the Canadian Junior Hockey League’s nine-member leagues are now down to their respective best-of-seven championship series.
There are CJHL 16 clubs still in contention to see who will join the Centennial Cup-host Calgary Canucks and fellow Alberta Junior Hockey League finalist, the Grande Prairie Storm, at the 10-team event, which goes May 8-18.
We know there will be at least five different league title holders heading to Calgary as the CCHL; MHL; MJHL; OJHL and SIJHL will have a new winner representing their respective leagues.
A new Centennial Cup champion will also be crowned, as last season’s winner, the Collingwood Blues (OJHL) were dethroned in the Ontario Junior Hockey League playoffs.
