The Miramichi Timberwolves have announced that defenseman Zachary Apréa-Ricard has committed to the University of Wisconsin-Stout, an NCAA Division 3 school.
The 20-year-old from St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec joined the Timberwolves for the 2023-24 season after playing for the Saint-Laurent Patriotes of the QCHL. Apréa-Ricard played all 52 regular season games for Miramichi with five goals and eighteen assists to go with just 22 penalty minutes. He was named to the Eastlink North Team of the Week once during the season.
Apréa-Ricard had two goals and three assists in the Metalfab MHL Cup Playoffs, including the tying goal in the 3rd period of Game 6 of the Final against Summerside. That goal ultimately led to Miramichi capturing their first-ever league title that evening.
At the Centennial Cup in Oakville, Ontario, Apréa-Ricard had one goal and one assist in six games as the Timberwolves made it to the semifinals of the national Junior A championship before losing to eventual champion Collingwood.
The MHL congratulates Apréa-Ricard on his post-secondary commitment.
