Tmej commits to Briercrest College

Former Summerside Western Capitals goaltender Dominik Tmej has committed to Briercrest College in Saskatchewan for the 2020-21 season.

The 21-year-old from Bradenton, Florida posted one of the most dominant stretches in Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL) history over his three seasons in Summerside. Tmej was named Goaltender of the Year and an All-Star in 2017-18, 2018-19, and 2019-20, winning the Young/Knickle Trophy for the league’s top goaltending tandem in the latter two seasons with Daniel Thompson and then Alec MacVicar respectively.

Tmej was acquired from the Valley Wildcats on November 15th, 2017, and suited up for his first game in the MHL three days later. From there, he reeled off a 17-2-0-0 record in 21 games to go with a 2.06 goals against average, a save percentage of .941, and six shutouts. Tmej was named the Gongshow 1st Star of the Month in December 2018 and recognized nationally as the 3rd Star of the Month for the Canadian Junior Hockey League. In the playoffs, he went 6-4-0-0 with a 1.71 GAA, .939 save percentage and one shutout.

For the 2019-20 season, Tmej posted a 25-4-0-1 record in 30 games for the league-leading Western Capitals with a 2.25 goals against average and a .927 save percentage.
