CJHL names its Gongshow Gear 3 Stars for February
Owen Say, (G) Powassan Voodoos (NOJHL); Cody Bruchkowski, (F) Thunder Bay North Stars (SIJHL); Jérémy Côté, (F) Titan de Princeville honoured

CALGARY, Alta. – The Canadian Junior Hockey League announced Thursday that goaltender Owen Say of the Powassan Voodoos (NOJHL) along with forwards Cody Bruchkowski of the Thunder Bay North Stars (SIJHL) and Jérémy Côté from the Titan de Princeville (LHJAAAQ) have been named its Gongshow Gear 3 Stars of the Month for February.

1ST STAR: OWEN SAY, (G) POWASSAN VOODOOS (NOJHL) – Making seven starts during the time frame, Say won each of them going 7-0 while helping backstop the Voodoos to first place regular season title in the NOJHL.

Along with the seven victories, the 18-year-old London, Ont., product posted a 1.84 goals-against average and recorded a solid .949 save percentage.

Say’s efforts throughout his initial campaign in the NOJHL saw him named a first team all-star while pacing all league netminders in wins with 31, finishing tops with a save mark of .941 and being third overall in average at 1.90.

He was also a member of the Team Canada East side that mined a silver medal at the most recent World Junior A Challenge.

2ND STAR: CODY BRUCHKOWSKI, (F) THUNDER BAY NORTH STARS (SIJHL) – In 11 games during the time frame, the 20-year-old Cochenour, Ont., product secured points in each of them, registering 24 in total, including a SIJHL-best 16 goals.

Bruchkowski tallied at least once in nine of those outings in the month, had six multi-goal games and a notched a pair of game-winning markers.

His 58 goals on the campaign were the third-most, in a single season, in SIJHL history.

Of note, adding the five markers he collected with the Brockville Braves (CCHL) in seven match-ups prior to joining Thunder Bay in early October, Bruchkowksi paced all skaters in the entire CJHL in total goals scored with 63.

He also finished tops the SIJHL in points (94); power play tallies (17) and game-winning goals (10).

3RD STAR: JÈRÈMY CÔTÈ, (F) TITAN DE PRINCEVILLE (LHJAAAQ) – Seeing action in eight February outings, Côté collected 10 goals and helped set-up 19 others for Princeville.

The 20-year-old forward, who hails from St-Felix-de-Kingsey, Que., wrapped up his year riding an impressive 23-game point streak to finish sixth in LHJAAAQ scoring with 104 points.

This included 70 assists, which placed him second in his league in that category.
