Truro Bearcats close 2018-19 season with reception, awards ceremony

Graduating players (from left to right) Dylan Burton, Ryan Porter, Shaun Bily, Myles Hektor, and Will Mizuik were among those honoured at the year-end reception for the Truro Bearcats.

The Truro Bearcats officially closed their 22nd season in the Maritime Hockey League on Tuesday with a reception and awards ceremony at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre.

Owner Stu Rath, team staff, volunteers, the players, and their families were among those in attendance as the curtain closed on the 2018-19 season.

Truro finished fourth in the Eastlink South Division at 24-21-2-3, but were knocked out of the playoffs in four straight games by the Yarmouth Mariners in the first round of the playoffs.

A number of team awards were handed out by Coach/GM Shawn Evans, which were voted on by the coaches and support staff.

Five Bearcats graduated this season, those born in 1998, with each receiving their jersey and giving a speech to the assembled crowd.
