Bearcats push Western Capitals to the brink with Game 4 win
The Truro Bearcats returned the favour on Wednesday night, shutting out Summerside 2-0 at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre to take a 3-1 lead in the Eastlink South Division Final.
Defenseman Jayden Connors scored on a shot from the point at 7:27 of the 1st period to open the scoring. That was the only goal of the night until Antoine Fontaine, returning to the lineup after missing Games 2 and 3, scored an empty netter to give the Bearcats a 2-0 victory.
Once again, Summerside’s penalty killing kept the game within reach throughout the evening as Truro were 0-for-6 in game 4 and are now 0-for-17 in the series. But the Western Capitals couldn’t solve goaltender Sam Berthiaume, who made 32 saves in the victory. Kolton Bourret made 26 saves in the loss.
Game 5 is back in Summerside on Friday.
