The Campbellton Tigers have announced that former captain Pascal Valcourt has committed to the Nipissing Lakers for 2020-21.
The 21-year-old from Saint Quentin, N.B. spent three seasons with the Tigers. He was selected by Campbellton in the 7th Round, 78th overall, in the 2016 MHL Entry Draft. Valcourt finished second on the team in scoring in his rookie campaign of 2017-18 with 16 goals and 16 assists in 50 games as Campbellton finished third in the Eastlink North. He was also named Pro Cresting Rookie of the Month for February/March.
In 2018-19, Valcourt increased his production with 20 goals and 27 assists in 49 games, which was once again second-most on the team. He would add one goal and seven assists in the Canadian Tire Cup Playoffs as the Tigers rolled into the league final, where they ultimately lost to Yarmouth.
Named captain for his final season in 2019-20, Valcourt led the Tigers in scoring with 20 goals and 45 assists in 52 games.
In a statement by Nipissing Athletics, Lakers head coach Mike McParland says he’s excited about Valcourt joining the program.
“We add another captain from the Maritimes who has offensive potential. Pascal is an above average skater who should bring speed to our team,” McParland said. “Where Pascal fits in we will see when we come together. I believe he can play up and down in the lineup.”
The Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL) congratulates Valcourt on his Junior A career and commitment to the Nipissing Lakers.
