The Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL) schedule kicks into high gear this week with games on five of the next six days and a full slate on Saturday where all twelve teams are in action.

The week kicks off Wednesday night in Amherst as the Ramblers (7-6-1-0) play their first of four games this week against Yarmouth (9-5-2-1).  The Mariners took the first meeting of the season 5-4 in overtime last month and lead the Ramblers by six points for second place in the Eastlink South. Amherst had just one game last week, falling 3-2 to South Shore (12-4-0-1), while Yarmouth had a pair of home games where they beat Valley (5-12-0-0) by a 5-3 score but lost 8-5 the next night to Edmundston (11-4-0-0). The teams will meet again on Friday at Mariners Centre. Yarmouth play three games in four night this week.

There are two games on Thursday and both featuring Eastlink North teams. Summerside (13-3-0-0) enter the week ranked 13th in the CJHL and are riding a five game win streak as they get set to host Miramichi (4-9-3-0). The Timberwolves are 0-3-1-0 in their past four games, a streak that started with a 7-4 home loss to the Western Capitals two weeks ago. Fredericton (8-7-0-0) host Edmundston in the other game on Thursday. Their lone matchup this season was a 4-1 win for the Blizzard at Grant Harvey Centre. Fredericton’s game in Grand Falls (6-8-2-0) last Friday was postponed due to a power outage and then they lost 5-2 to Summerside. Edmundston swept a Nova Scotia road trip, with wins against South Shore and the aforementioned game with Yarmouth.

Four games are set for Friday. Pictou County (6-7-0-0) are off to New Brunswick and start their week in Campbellton (8-5-1-0). The Crushers lost 6-4 to Valley in their lone game last week. The Tigers rebounded from a home loss to Truro (4-8-0-4) with a road win against the Rapids. Speaking of Truro, with two big wins in New Brunswick last weekend, they get set to play three games in four days, starting Friday night at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre against Valley. The Wildcats have taken both matchups this season by 3-2 finals, with one being in a shootout. Grand Falls hit the road for South Shore. The Lumberjacks dropped back to back games last weekend, but remain atop the Eastlink South. Elsewhere, the Ramblers and Mariners lock horns in Yarmouth.

Saturday night is a busy one with all MHL teams on the ice. The Game of the Week, which is free to watch on HockeyTV features the Rapids in Yarmouth. On October 6th, the Mariners picked up a 5-3 win in Grand Falls. Also on the docket, Pictou County travels to Miramichi to face the Timberwolves, South Shore make a stop in Truro, Valley hosts Amherst, the Red Wings and Blizzard meet in Edmundston for the back half of a home and home series this week, and Campbellton heads to Summerside looking to avenge a 6-2 loss on October 19th.

The week wraps up on Monday with a renewed Remembrance Day tradition as the Amherst Ramblers host the Truro Bearcats for an afternoon start.

All games are available to watch on HockeyTV.
