MacEwan University has announced that Summerside Western Capitals forward Blake Eastman has committed to their program for the 2024-25 season.
“He’s a big body who found his scoring touch again in Junior A,” said Griffins head coach Zack Dailey. “I think he’s someone who can come in and help us help fill the void with the scoring from those guys we’re losing. Really great kid. Great work ethic. Great teammate. He’s experienced as a leader on his team, as well.”
The 21-year-old from Ardrossan, Alberta spent four seasons in the WHL with the Prince George Cougars, registering nineteen goals and 25 assists in 180 games.
Joining Summerside for the 2023-24 season, Eastman finished thirteenth in league scoring with 67 points in 41 games. Eastman’s 31 goals were tenth-most in the league and he added 36 assists. He was named to the Eastlink South Team of the Week three times. In the Metalfab MHL Cup Playoffs, Eastman finished fifth in scoring with eighteen points. He was tied for third in goals in the playoffs with nine. Four of his goals were on the powerplay, which tied for second-most. Eastman was also one of four players in the post-season to tally three game-winning goals.
The MHL congratulates Eastman on his post-secondary commitment.
