Western Capitals Force Game 7

There will be a seventh game in the 2018 Eastlink North Division Final.

Backed by three point nights from Cam Roberts and TJ Shea as well as a spectacular performance in nets from Alex Bishop, the Summerside Western Capitals defeated the Edmundston Blizzard 4-1 in Game 6 of their best of seven series.

Chris Chaddock got the Caps on the board first, firing home his seventh goal of the postseason just over five minutes into the first. The lead was short lived however as Dany Coulombe tied the score on his fourth goal of the playoffs just 49 seconds later. This would send the two teams to the dressing room tied after 20 minutes of action. In the second period, the Western Capitals pulled away. Cam Roberts first of two tallies on the night proved to be the game winner when he beat Edmundston goaltender Francis Asselin at the 12:18 mark of the second period on the powerplay. TJ Shea would up the Summerside lead to 3-1 with his seventh goal of the playoffs just under three minutes later. In the third period, the Western Capitals would close out the scoring on Roberts’ second of the game and team leading eighth of the postseason at the 7:14 mark. Bishop made 39 saves between the pipes for Summerside while Francis Asselin and Myles Hektor combined to stop 22 shots for the Blizzard.

Game 7 of the Eastlink North Division Final takes place Wednesday at 7:30PM. The winner of this series will face the Yarmouth Mariners in the 2018 MHL Final.
