Basque commits to the Université de Moncton

The Campbellton Tigers have announced that forward William Basque has committed to the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus for the 2020-21 season. The 20-year-old from Tracadie, N.B. finished second in team scoring this season with 23 goals and 31 assists in 52 games.

Basque was selected by Campbellton in the 2nd Round, 18th overall, in the 2015 MHL Entry Draft. In his rookie season of 2015-16, Basque played all 48 games of the regular season. He registered ten goals and twelve assists as the Tigers qualified for the playoffs. Campbellton would fall to Summerside in seven games in that opening round series, with Basque scoring once in five games.

After three seasons with the Gatineau Olympiques of the QMJHL, Basque returned to Campbellton for the 2019-20 season. He helped Campbellton qualify for the Canadian Tire Cup Playoffs and is preparing for their first round matchup with Fredericton.

The Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL) congratulates Basque on his commitment to the Université de Moncton.
