Campbellton, NB – The Campbellton Tigers are proud to announce the appointment of Greg Leland as the organization’s new Head Coach.
A familiar and respected name in Campbellton, Leland returns to the Tigers after previously serving as both Head Coach and General Manager from 2016 to 2020. During his previous tenure, he helped guide the Tigers to the Maritime Junior Hockey League Finals during the 2018-2019 season while building a strong culture centered on player development, discipline, and competitiveness.
Leland brings an impressive coaching résumé and decades of experience at the junior and major junior levels. Most recently, he was named the Maritime Junior Hockey League’s 2025-2026 Coach of the Year after leading the Grand Falls Rapids to a 31-15-5-1 record, a 27-point improvement from the previous season, and the organization’s first division title and playoff berth since relocating to Grand Falls.
This marks the second time Leland has received the league’s Coach of the Year honour, having previously won the award with the Tigers in 2018-2019.
His coaching career also includes time with the Saint John Sea Dogs organization, where he served as assistant coach from 2007 to 2015 and was part of two President Cup championship teams and a Memorial Cup championship in 2011. Leland also served as an assistant coach with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, worked with Team Canada East at the World Junior A Challenge, and twice served as Head Coach for Team Atlantic at the World U17 Challenge.
“Greg’s passion for the game, leadership, and commitment to developing young athletes make him the ideal person to lead our hockey club,” said Tigers Owner Pierre Girard. “We are extremely excited to welcome him back to Campbellton and look forward to the future of Tigers hockey under his leadership.”
General Manager Charles Leblanc also expressed his enthusiasm regarding the announcement.
“Greg knows this organization, this community, and what it takes to succeed in our league,” said Leblanc. “His experience, knowledge, and recent success speak for themselves. We are confident he will have a tremendous impact on our players and our program.”
Leland says “I’m excited for the opportunity to continue my coaching career in Campbellton, a place where I spent four memorable years helping rejuvenate the program and reaching a league final.
Having familiarity with the organization, owner Pierre Girard, and General Manager Charles Leblanc will help make this a seamless transition. Pierre, Charles and I share the same vision when it comes to rebuilding the culture and continuing to move the program forward. We understand that success starts with bringing in quality people who are also quality hockey players, while surrounding them with a strong support staff that gives them every opportunity to succeed. We know there will be a lot of work ahead, but that challenge is what makes the opportunity so rewarding.”
Leland’s return marks an exciting new chapter for the Tigers as the organization continues preparing for the upcoming season and building a competitive team for the future.

Campbellton, N.-B – Les Tigers de Campbellton sont fiers d’annoncer la nomination de Greg Leland au poste d’entraîneur-chef de l’organisation.
Visage bien connu et respecté à Campbellton, Leland effectue un retour avec les Tigers après avoir occupé les postes d’entraîneur-chef et de directeur général de 2016 à 2020. Lors de son premier passage avec l’équipe, il a notamment guidé les Tigers jusqu’à la finale de la Ligue de hockey junior des Maritimes lors de la saison 2018-2019, tout en contribuant à bâtir une culture axée sur le développement des joueurs, la discipline et la compétitivité.
Greg Leland possède une impressionnante feuille de route et plusieurs années d’expérience derrière le banc au niveau junior et majeur junior. Plus récemment, il a été nommé entraîneur de l’année 2025-2026 de la Ligue de hockey junior des Maritimes après avoir mené les Rapids de Grand-Sault à une fiche de 31 victoires, 15 défaites, 5 défaites en prolongation et 1 défaite en tirs de barrage. L’équipe a également connu une amélioration de 27 points au classement comparativement à la saison précédente, en plus de remporter son premier titre de division et sa première participation aux séries depuis son arrivée à Grand-Sault.
Il s’agit d’ailleurs de la deuxième fois que Leland reçoit l’honneur d’entraîneur de l’année dans la ligue, ayant également remporté ce titre avec les Tigers lors de la saison 2018-2019.
Sa carrière d’entraîneur comprend également un passage avec les Sea Dogs de Saint John dans la LHJMQ, où il a occupé le poste d’entraîneur adjoint de 2007 à 2015. Durant cette période, l’organisation a remporté deux Coupes du Président ainsi que la Coupe Memorial en 2011. Leland a également travaillé avec le Titan d’Acadie-Bathurst, Équipe Canada Est au Défi mondial junior A, ainsi qu’à deux reprises comme entraîneur-chef d’Équipe Atlantique au Défi mondial des moins de 17 ans.
« La passion de Greg pour le hockey, son leadership et son engagement envers le développement des jeunes athlètes font de lui la personne idéale pour diriger notre équipe, » a déclaré Pierre Girard, propriétaire des Tigers. « Nous sommes extrêmement heureux de le voir revenir à Campbellton et nous avons très hâte à l’avenir des Tigers sous sa direction. »
Le directeur général Charles Leblanc s’est également dit très enthousiaste face à cette nomination.
« Greg connaît cette organisation, cette communauté et ce qu’il faut pour avoir du succès dans notre ligue, » a mentionné Leblanc. « Son expérience, ses connaissances et ses récents succès parlent d’eux-mêmes. Nous sommes convaincus qu’il aura un impact très positif sur nos joueurs et notre programme. »
Leland mentionne que « Je suis très heureux d’avoir l’occasion de poursuivre ma carrière d’entraîneur à Campbellton, un endroit où j’ai passé quatre années mémorables en contribuant à redonner un nouvel élan au programme et en atteignant une finale de ligue.
Le fait de bien connaître l’organisation, le propriétaire Pierre Girard ainsi que le directeur général Charles Leblanc permettra une transition naturelle et harmonieuse. Pierre, Charles et moi partageons la même vision lorsqu’il est question de rebâtir la culture de l’équipe et de continuer à faire progresser le programme.
Nous comprenons que le succès passe avant tout par le recrutement de bonnes personnes qui sont également d’excellents joueurs de hockey, tout en les entourant d’un solide personnel de soutien afin de leur offrir toutes les chances de réussir. Le retour de Greg Leland marque le début d’un nouveau chapitre emballant pour les Tigers, alors que l’organisation poursuit sa préparation en vue de la prochaine saison.
