FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Truro, N.S. (March 28, 2021) – Staff and players with the Amherst Ramblers have tested negative for COVID-19, with all results received as of Sunday. The team underwent the testing on the advice of the Maritime Junior Hockey League’s (MHL) Chief Medical Officer following a positive COVID-19 test result from a member of the Summerside Western Capitals on Monday. Summerside had played in Amherst on Friday, March 19th, three days before the positive result for the Western Capitals was reported to the team.
The Summerside Western Capitals are currently isolating and continuing to work with Public Health officials on Prince Edward Island. They are following both the MHL’s Return to Play protocols and the strict work isolation protocol set out by P.E.I.’s Chief Public Health Officer.
Several games were postponed in Nova Scotia last week as a precaution, pending the testing results for the Ramblers. An announcement will be made when these games are rescheduled.
The MHL remains committed to ensuring the safety of players, fans, and team staff through the COVID-19 pandemic and working with provincial health officials and other stakeholders moving forward.
