DiChiara commits to Bowdoin College

The Yarmouth Mariners have announced that goaltender AJ DiChiara has committed to play hockey at Bowdoin College, an NCAA Division III school, next season.

The 20-year-old from Palo Alto, California joined the Mariners for the 2021-22 season after spending last season with Deerfield Academy in USHS-Prep. In fifteen games so far this season, DiChiara has a 9-3-0-0 record with a 2.40 goals against average and a .907 save percentage. He’s been named to the Eastlink South Players of the Week list three times in 2021-22 and was an Honourable Mention for the MHL’s Top Goaltender in November.

“During the summer finding a junior team as a 20-year-old was an arduous task but I was lucky enough to find an opportunity with the Mariners,” says DiChiara. “Ever since the start of the season, I’ve received great hockey development, had terrific support from the Yarmouth community, and loved getting to know the team. I’m thrilled to be able to move on to Bowdoin next year. It has been my dream school for a long time. I could not have done it on my own without the support from my parents, Coach Laurie Barron, and the team. Thank you all!”

The MHL congratulates DiChiara on his post-secondary commitment.
