Former Summerside Western Capitals defenceman Jordan Spence has cracked Craig Button’s latest rankings for the 2019 NHL Draft. The 17-year-old from Cornwall, P.E.I. is 49th in the December update by TSN’s Director of Scouting.

Spence was named the Maritime Hockey League’s Rookie of the Year last season, and also made the Rookie All-Star Team on the blueline, after posting 13 goals and 39 assists in 50 games. He added 4 goals and 13 assists in 12 playoff games for Summerside.

Drafted in the 2nd Round, 20th overall, in 2018 by the QMJHL’s Moncton Wildcats, Spence has continued to put up points this season. He has two goals and 25 assists in 34 games so far, and a +13 rating.

Spence was also named to the NHL Central Scouting compilation of top prospects from all the major development leagues throughout North America and Europe in October.
