The Yarmouth Mariners have announced that forward Michael Marquez has committed to Buffalo State University, an NCAA Division III school, for the 2024-25 season.
The 21-year-old from Upland, California spent two seasons with the Mariners. In 2022-23, Marquez finished sixth in team scoring with eighteen goals and 28 assists for 46 points. He was named to the Eastlink South Team of the Week once through the season. In the Metalfab MHL Cup Playoffs, Marquez had three goals and nine assists to help the Mariners capture the league championship. At the Centennial Cup, Marquez had two goals and one assist in five games.
In 2023-24, Marquez registered four goals and fifteen assists in 23 games. He was again named to the Eastlink South Team of the Week on one occasion and was held scoreless in three playoff games.
