MHL well represented by alumni at U SPORTS University Cup in Halifax, N.S.

The Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL) is proud to announce that 25 alumni will compete at the 2026 U SPORTS University Cup, taking place this week at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus lead the way with 13 alumni in their lineup, including Mika Cyr (Dieppe) who was just named U SPORTS Player of the Year and Jeremy D’Astous (Grand Falls/Edmundston), who was named a member of the All-Rookie Team and was a candidate for Rookie of the Year Award. Adding to that number is Head Coach Derek Cormier (Moncton), a former CJHL Player of the Year who was named the U SPORTS Coach of the Year Award.

The Saint Mary’s Huskies have five MHL alumni, with four on the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR) Patriotes and three on the UNB Varsity Reds.

The 2026 University Cup quarterfinals run Thursday and Friday, with the semifinals scheduled for Saturday. On Sunday, the bronze medal game is at 9 a.m., followed by the championship game at 1 p.m.
