Summerside Western Capitals forward TJ Shea has put together a season to remember in the MHL so far this season. His explosive totals in January earned him first star honors in the CJHL for the month earlier today.
The 19 year old from Tignish scored eight goals and added 20 assists in 10 games last month. Not only did Shea record a point during each January contest, that was part of a larger, 33 game point streak that stretched nearly four months, from October 7th to February 2nd. Shea’s first star award for January in the MHL was the third such time he’s earned that honor this season. He was previously named to the position in October and December, 2017 as well as the second star in the league for November, 2017. He was also named third star of the month in the CJHL for October, 2017. Shea leads the league in goals (39), assists (58) and points (97) through 42 games played this season.
Goaltender Connor Hicks of the Ottawa Jr. Senators (CCHL) was named the second star for January in the CJHL while Victoria Grizzlies (BCHL) forward Alex Newhook, who hails from St. John’s Newfoundland, was named third star.
