Steamers’ MacDonald commits to Saint Mary’s University

Saint Mary’s University has announced that forward Matthew MacDonald has committed to the Huskies for the 2024-25 season.

The 20-year-old from Halifax, N.S. was drafted in the 4th Round, 67th overall, in the 2020 MHL Entry Draft. MacDonald joined the West Kent Steamers after this season’s trade deadline.

Prior to playing for the Steamers, MacDonald spent five seasons in the QMJHL with the Shawinigan Cataractes, Cape Breton Eagles, Baie-Comeau Drakkar, and Blainville-Boisbriand Armada. In 214 games, MacDonald had 29 goals and 40 assists, including two assists in five playoff games.
