Amherst closing in on Eastlink South Division Final appearance
The Amherst Ramblers scored four straight goals to beat the Western Capitals in Summerside 4-3 on Monday night to take a 3-2 lead in the Eastlink South Division Semi-Final.
The home side jumped out to an early lead as Justin Ouellette scored on the powerplay at 2:46. Cade Moser made it 2-0 Summerside at 6:33 of the 1st period before Matthew MacLean scored another powerplay goal at 17:36 to stake the Western Capitals to a 3-0 lead.
Jacob Kaine got Amherst on the board at 1:29 of the 2nd period with a powerplay goal of his own, and Mark Corbett scored shorthanded at 18:52 to cut the Summersied lead to 3-2 after 40 minutes.
In the 3rd period, Ty Peddigrew tied the game at 8:27. Cooper Cormier then scored the game-winner at 16:18.
Hudson Bradley made 32 saves for the win, while Kolten Bourret had 21 saves in the loss. Game 6 is back in Amherst on Thursday.
