St. Francis Xavier University has announced that Truro Bearcats goaltender Jack Milner has committed to their program.
The 20-year-old from Antigonish, N.S. was drafted in the 6th Round, 89th overall, in the 2021 MHL Entry Draft. In his rookie season of 2022-23, Milner finished seventh among MHL netminders with a 3.31 goals against average. He posted a record of 20-6-1-0 for Truro and an .897 save percentage. Milner was named Top Rookie in December 2023 and was named to the Eastlink South Team of the Week three times during the season. In the playoffs, Milner went 0-2-0 with a 3.04 goals against average and an .897 save percentage.
After a season and a half in the QMJHL with the Halifax Mooseheads, Milner returned to the Bearcats at the 2024-25 trade deadline on January 10th and made an immediate impact. In sixteen games, Milner had a record of 8-5-1-0 with a 2.46 goals against average and one shutout. He faced an average of 27.5 shots per game and posted a .919 save percentage. Milner allowed just one goal in each of his first two games back in the MHL, with 30 saves in a win over Grand Falls on the 10th and 36 saves in a win over Amherst the next night.
He was named to the Eastlink South Team of the Week twice during the season and was named the Eastlink South All-Star Goaltender. In the playoffs, Milner went 4-5-0-1 with a 3.28 goals against average and a .908 save percentage.
