Former Western Capital Annear commits to UPEI

The Summerside Western Capitals have announced that Jesse Annear has committed to the UPEI Panthers for the 2019-20 season.

The 21-year-old defenseman from Montague, P.E.I. native spent four seasons with the Western Capitals. A 3rd round selection in the 2015 Entry Draft, 30th overall, Annear was named to the MHL’s inaugural Rookie All-Star team in the 2015-16 season where he posted four goals and ten assists in 46 games. In the playoffs, he tallied one goal and three assists in 13 games.

The following season, Annear more than doubled his production on the blueline with 11 goals and 19 assists in 49 games all while remaining a steadying presence for Summerside on the back end. His playoff output consisted of one goal and one assist in ten games. In 2017-18, Annear continued to improve his point total, with six goals and 33 assists in 43 games, adding one goal and eight assists in 12 playoff games. In his final season, Annear played 26 games, with five goals and 18 assists.

Looking at his numbers a bit further, Annear compiled just 112 penalty minutes in 164 regular season games and 12 in 35 playoff games.
