Fredericton Red Wings announce staff changes

Global Center Ice Media Release

Staff Changes

The Fredericton Red Wings are excited to announce the hiring of Kyle McAllister as the new Head Coach/GM and Director of Prospect Hockey Development and Craig Eagles as the new Head Scout for the team.  Present Coach/GM Brian Casey will be moving back to Newfoundland to his home in Grand Falls Windsor. Although a tremendous 2 plus years with the team, at the helm, Coach Casey for personal reasons simply feels hockey has taken him away from his family now far too long. Brian will continue with the organization serving as a consultant to the team on hockey matters from his home in Newfoundland. Global Center Ice, the parent company of the Fredericton Red Wings and Prospect Hockey Development cannot say enough about the leadership and commitment Brian Casey has brought to the organization in the first two years of existence, the times of troubled waters with Covid and how the team came together to win in only the second season. Best wishes to Brian and his family as they come together after many years of Brian working away from home.

Kyle McAllister

GCI is excited to announce Kyle as the new GM & Head Coach of the Red Wings and Director of Prospects Hockey.  Kyle has a very extensive hockey background, with over 5 years of coaching experience at the Jr and CIS level.  Kyle was a draft pick of the Ottawa 67s and after a 5-year Jr. Career, Kyle starred at St. Thomas University and moved on to play pro hockey with the Florida Everblades and the Mississippi Seawolves.

Craig Eagles

Craig is as passionate about hockey and scouting as anyone can possibly be, after years of working with CSR of the QMJHL, Craig will take up his first time Head Scout Position with the Red Wings. Supporting several teams in the past with drafts in the capacity of scouting, including the Fredericton Red Wings, Craig steps in to replace Tim Schurman who has taken up a coaching position with the Summerside Western Capitals of the MHL. Craig is best known for his hockey broadcasting commentary on Rogers with his own Show Sports Inclusive, and broadcasting for 11 years. Including his First-Down Sports Podcast. Craig brings passion in the rinks; the Red Wings are excited to welcome Craig to the team as the new Head Scout.

Brian Casey

Team President and Governor Roger Shannon says “ Obviously, losing Brian is a huge blow to our organization, and in turn to be fortunate enough to find someone like Kyle to replace him was a true hockey break, the hockey Gods were looking out for us” “ Brian did such a great job with our organization in such incredible circumstances, over the past two years, we cannot thank him enough, we are glad he is staying with us in his capacity and we welcome Kyle to get things going for our third season and Craig to lead our scouting staff to a new level”

Kyle McAllister “I was pleased to get the call from Roger, my passion has always been hockey and was looking forward to getting back into coaching at this level. Brian has left us in very good shape, and our roster this year is exciting, the team has been building toward this for the past 2 seasons. Getting the opportunity to work for  Global Center Ice opens up a lot of opportunity, as their company is so diversified, and getting a chance to work so often with young players is something I am really looking forward to”

Craig Eagles “I love working with good organizations, I have been fortunate to be able to meet and work with some great hockey people over the years, and the Red Wings are no exception, I am inheriting a hard-working staff and look forward to guiding them through to our next draft in 2022”

Brian Casey “the past two years have been unique to say the least, with such an exciting first year and the return of this historical Red Wing team to Fredericton, things looked so promising. Covid has really hit our world hard, in so many ways, and for me, just being back home is so important to me, I am looking forward to this new chapter in my life, with pro hockey and coaching, I have been away from Newfoundland much of my entire adult life.  I want to thank the organization for a great two years, and wish them well, the future looks bright in Fredericton”
