Gidney, McGregor commit to Portage College

 The Miramichi Timberwolves have announced that defenseman Nick Gidney and forward Connor McGregor have committed to Portage College for the 2021-22 season.

Gidney joined the Timberwolves for the 2020-21 season after three seasons with the Thorold Blackhawks of the GOJHL. The 21-year-old from Thorold, ON had one goal and two assists in 26 games with Miramichi, and accumulated just 22 penalty minutes. He added one assist in four games during the Canadian Tire Cup Playoff Round Robin and scored once in seven games during the Eastlink North playoffs.

McGregor was a Territorial selection during the 2017 MHL Entry Draft by the St. Stephen Aces. The 21-year-old from Charlottetown, P.E.I. posted three goals and five assists in 48 games in his rookie season of 2018-19. He followed the team on its move to Fredericton for the 2019-20 season and had one goal in three games for the Red Wings before being dealt to Miramichi in early October 2019. He finished the season with 20 goals and 20 assists for the Timberwolves. McGregor’s 21 goals and 41 points were the most on the team at the end of the year. In 2020-21, McGregor was second in team scoring with 14 goals and 14 assists in 26 games.  He scored twice during the Canadian Tire Cup Playoff Round Robin and had one assist in seven games during the Eastlink North playoffs.
